A Passion for P.L.A.N.T.S.
This scenario-based concept project was created to increase positive customer experiences.

Overview
This course allows sales associates a risk-free environment to practice interacting with customers. The scenario-based model empowers learners to move throughout the course, at their own pace, while providing instant feedback and consequences to less-than-ideal decisions. Assistance is provided if needed, and each learner will engage in a learning experience that is tailored just for them. Learners are able to try each scenario again if the best choice is not selected.

Action Map
This concept project focuses on a fictitious brick-and-mortar business that sells plants. The business goal was identified as increasing positive customer experiences by 12%, by the third quarter, as sales associates use the P.L.A.N.T.S. technique. This measurable goal is at the center of the action map and the rest of the map feeds into it.
Past experiences working in retail and current interests in gardening, landscaping, and horticulture helped guide me as the subject matter expert on this project. The P.L.A.N.T.S. technique was created and used as action steps that surround the goal.
Real-world practice activities were identified for each action step. Learners have choices to make to demonstrate their mastery of each part of the P.L.A.N.T.S. technique. A detailed breakdown of each activity results in the three choices with which learners would be presented.

Storyboard
A text-based storyboard was originated to flesh out all of the dialogue from the characters and identify the text that would be displayed on each slide. Visual notes about graphics and programming notes for connections between slides were also recognized. The narrative for each scene was carefully refined as was the fluidity of the script and overall alignment of the entire course. Attention to detail was important to make this a memorable and relatable experience.

Mockups
A style guide and color scheme were pieced together to aid in the production of the graphics for the course. This included two background images, inside and outside the store, as well as two characters with 11 facial expressions. Complementary items, such as icons, buttons, and other miscellaneous graphics, were also included with these visual mockups.

Development
The project has eight scenes, including an introduction, six scenarios, and a conclusion. Learners are immersed in the experience and must successfully move through each section. When learners are faced with a decision to make, they are presented with three options. The best option of the three will allow them to move forward in the course. The other two options will provide implications for their choice and allow them to try again. Learners can also track their progress with a performance indicator that adjusts when they advance through the course, which also sparks intrinsic motivation.

Certificate of Completion
Learners have the option to print a certificate of completion that is generated at the end of the course. There was JavaScript that needed to be put into the Storyline project and HTML code that needed to be included with the project file.
